In this powerful drama by the author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning plays "A Streetcar Named Desire," and "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," Reverend Shannon, having been relieved of his cloth for sexual misconduct, has landed at the Costa Verde Hotel, near Acapulco, on the verge of a mental breakdown. The owner, an old friend, is prepared to offer him a bed and someone to share it with. The arrival of Miss Hannah Jelkes, a sad, fortyish lady who travels the world painting quick portraits, complicates things even further, as there is a strange and immediate rapport between the discredited cleric and the lonely artist, and Rev. Shannon begins to feel the heat of temptation closing in on every side...
